I often have clients come in looking for a bicycle for their child. Typically the parent is concerned about getting the child on the correct size bike (duh)... But also they are concerned that their child will out grow the bike in a short period of time. I quickly point out they should not get a bike that the child will grow into. This is a bad idea for the child because they will not be very stable and comfortable on the bike. Hence they would rather stay at home and play on an electronic device. As well, the child will just hang around the house eat all the food (get fat) and drive the parents nuts from a sugar high. So I prefer (as do the parents) the kid gets outside and get some exercise and have a safe experience bike riding. I also point out to the parents that we at May Street Bicycles provide a great trade in program for kid's bikes that they will eventually out grow. Speaking of out growing. We can also lead the parent to choose the best bike for their child that also grows. We have the Orbea "Grow" Bikes that expand to a larger size as the child grows. This is a great option. Check out some of the bikes below:) Also, if the parent is looking for a trail style bike for their child to ride at Resevoir Park and Nick's Creek we have some great bikes from the MX line. Also from Orbea Bicycles. If the parent has their own bicycle to size for their child or just wants to learn more about bike sizing for their child... below is a neat video about child - bike sizing tips. Greg Combs President of Fun May Street Bicycles is not your typical bike shop. Sure we sell awesome bicycles, provide bicycle repairs, and rental bikes all at great prices. But we do a great deal more such as dynamic bike fitting, metabolic testing, altitude training, and personal training.
