In September 2016 I did my first Gravel Grinder event on the Biltmore Estate. I really enjoyed myself getting back on the bike, embracing the scenery with fellow cyclists, and yes seeing how I would perform. Openly, I said "I just wanted to have a good time," but secretly I wanted to do well in the peloton. My experience at the gravel grinder was fantastic. I did have fun. However, I was totally gased afterwards. I guess all the weight lifting, drinking beer (lots of it), and little cardio was not a great training plan. When a fellow cyclist from Southern Pines, NC who as well participated (she placed second) sent me a couple pictures of me at the grinder I realized I had become a real fat ass. So I decided to start practing what I have been preaching to my clients about metabolic efficiency and weight loss. So, I did just that. I modified my diet to become more fat efficient, as well began focusing on training that would compliment my goals... lose my gut and fat ass. In September I weighed a womping 237 pounds. Five months later I am down to 200 pounds and continuing to lose the weight. Below are some pictures from the Biltmore Event and one from Team Adaptive Duathlon Training Series, and one from the January Mountain Bike Marathon. Please laugh, giggle, and even cry at the reformation.
